Golden Rule of Engagement
If you buy from Cashapp, Venmo, Zelle, Coinbase, etc. and send to your seller directly, you risk getting your account banned. Always send from your personal wallet like Trust Wallet.
Wallet Setup — Buy & Send
- 01.Download Trust Wallet from trustwallet.com or your app store.
- 02.Create a new wallet. Create a numerical passcode and enable biometrics.
- 03.Once your wallet is set up, from the home screen tap Settings, select wallet, tap the three dots, and choose Manual Backup.
- 04.Write down your 12-word recovery phrase and store it securely offline. Do NOT skip this.
Ordnance Selection — Which Crypto
Non-Stablecoin
ETH · SOL · TRON · BTC
$1 = fluctuates
Stablecoin
USDC · USDT
$1 = $1, needs gas to send
Answer: whichever your seller takes with the lowest fees — ask them!
Always start with a test transaction ($20–30).
Supply Sources — Where to Buy
You can buy crypto directly within the self-custodial wallet itself. Buying inside Trust Wallet utilizes an outside exchange like MoonPay, Banxa, Transak, etc. to conduct the transaction in one step. This carries more fees than buying directly from an exchange and then transferring — but it is one-stop shopping.
Or you can buy from an exchange like Kraken or Binance and transfer to Trust Wallet. We don't recommend Coinbase for newbies, as it defaults to the wrong network, Base, when transferring out.
Fuel Reserves — What Is Gas
"Gas" is a transaction cost to use the crypto network. A great starting point for newbies is to go ahead and buy $5 in gas in SOL and $5 in ETH to fund your Trust Wallet. This lets you get used to the interface before purchasing your stablecoin, and that gas will be used in future purchases.
- Typically about $0.20 gas is required per transaction.
- FYI: Tron costs the most of any crypto to send. Only use it if your seller requires it.
So we buy some gas, then we buy stablecoin in the amount of our purchase, and then we send to the seller.

Field Routes — Step by Step
Within-TrustWallet RouteGood for New Recruits
- 01.Buy USDT/USDC in the amount of your purchase + $5 extra in gas (SOL, ETH, or TRON) inside Trust Wallet using MoonPay, Banxa, Transak, etc.
- 02.Send the stablecoin to your seller from Trust Wallet.
Exchange Route
- 01.Buy USDT/USDC in the amount of your purchase + $5 extra in gas (SOL, ETH, or TRON) from an exchange like Kraken or Binance.
- 02.Send both to Trust Wallet.
- 03.Send the stablecoin to your seller from Trust Wallet.
How It Works
- 01.Have the stablecoin (USDT/USDC) in your Trust Wallet — this is your payment amount.
- 02.Have the native currency (SOL/ETH/etc.) in your wallet — this is your gas money.
- 03.When you send, Trust Wallet automatically deducts the gas from your wallet.
Holds & Fees Report
Inside a Wallet (Trust Wallet)
- Hold time: often just a few hours.
- Fee: ~4% higher, but accepts Apple Pay.
On an Exchange (Kraken / Binance)
- Hold time: can be instant or up to a week for new users.
- Fee: 0% for USDC with a bank account on Coinbase.
You will always have to verify your identity to buy crypto.
Final Directive
Don't be scared! Before sending crypto, always do a small $5 test transaction and have your seller confirm they received it.
Help the community — once you're done, tell your fellow researchers in The WardRoom that you were able to use crypto successfully to encourage others!
